Stay Hydrated and Energized at Conferences

We often burn the candle at both ends during conferences and the result can be feeling lousy in the mornings.

With the late nights, early mornings, having too much fun, lack of water, climate changes, and other factors, our bodies retaliate with headaches, fatigue, and other stuff that makes it hard to conduct business.

Charge Your Devices Each Night at Conferences

Battery life seems to evaporate faster at a conference than anywhere else, so be sure to plug in your phone to get a full charge before you go to sleep each night.

Bring along a backup power source and/or charger during the day, too.

I keep a couple of backup wall chargers and lightning to USB cables, as well as a portable phone charger to keep in my pocket.

A nice convenience when conferences take place in a hotel is that you can book your room there and then go up for an emergency charge, too.

If you’re lucky, there will be a power station at the conference.

Don’t Rely on Conference WiFi

It is expected that a conference will provide Internet access, but it can be risky to rely on that conference or hotel or convention center WiFi.

The problem is that the connections can get quickly maxed out when people are connecting with multiple devices.

The vendors that supply the WiFi have caps on the number of connections, so you should really have a contingency plan.

Typically a conference attendee will be denied WiFi access or will be able to get on the Internet, but with a very slow connection. This makes the process to connect to email or their company’s network very cumbersome.

I don’t even bother with the conference WiFi. I like to make my phone into a Hotspot. Some other people bring their own mobile WiFi Hotspot.
