It never fails when I walk around a busy exhibit hall floor – there are employees of exhibiting companies sitting down behind a table or on a couch.
Get off your butt and get out there to be with the people. If you have a table, push it back against the booth wall.
Make yourself approachable and show that you’re interested in engaging with the people stopping by your space.
You don’t convey that impression when you’re lounging around. Instead, that comes off as apathetic and disinterested.
Did you go out too hard the night before and now you are feeling rough? Suffer your mistakes and get on your feet.
Your company is paying thousands or tens of thousands for you to be there for a pretty short period of time. So stand and deliver.
There will be plenty of time to sit down when you get back to the office.
